I don't pretend to know.
I resent that in fact.
Nothing can be further than the truth.
I know nothing.
Or at least I think so.
My mind is running all over the place
and I just can't keep up.
I don't pretend to know.
This writer's block is hurting me
in ways that I can't rightly describe
at this point in time.
I sound ridiculous.
I may be ridiculous.
I don't yet know.

Her mind was reeling, in a state of retropulsion, as though stepping - no, leaping  back would save her from dwelling on the implications of what just happened.
