Attraction can’t be explained.
Her hair, her eyes, or lips
- or the way her voice skips
like a child full of smiles
all over.
One glance, maybe two
and you’ve sealed the deal
in your mind. Nothing stops
you, nothing tells you to drop
it as simple coincidence in
the presence of life.
Light in your eyes only show
when you know what to do,
when you feel you’ve met your soul-
mate.
Attraction requires nothing more
than a look and a thought –
just one look and you’ve bought
into the idea of idealistic romance.
Love – now that is something else.
It’s not so much on the self,
but on the someone else –
beyond your wants and desires
and clever, cunning plans.
Patience and understanding –
A big heart [no need for planning]
for another though that other
may care nothing for you.
It sounds simple indeed,
but just try and you’ll see
that real love has no room
for the self.
Do what you can for the other
and don’t expect for any of the
things you imagine in romance.
Give all you can give,
expect none in return,
and maybe, just maybe
her love will be born.

A recent poem that I've grown to love. It's also the first poem where I played around with the format of the lines so that it'll have an effect on how one reads or views it. Tell me what you think.
I may rant on the next post, who knows. We'll see.
